Float Tank 2 is here!

It’s officially here! Our second Floatation Tank has made its way into our center, but not without a few hiccups along the way!

Day 1 - Arrival!
On Friday 23rd August, the tank arrived on a truck earlier than expected, which was the first challenge for a super-excited Lena (anyone who has seen Lena knows how busy she is and that she is almost ALWAYS with a client!). Lena was looking forward to taking photos of its arrival to share the journey with you all, however she was just about to take a client through for treatment when the tank arrived. When the tank arrived, she was thinking “my client is my first priority, so I will look after her and think about the float tank later”. Knowing that this was an exciting moment for us all at Inner Outer Health, Lena’s client encouraged her to take photos knowing that this moment was a once-in-a-lifetime moment (Lena says thank you – you know who you are!). Here is the beginning of the journey!

Our brand new Apollo Floatation Tank - still in plastic wrap!
It took three guys to bring the Float Tank inside. This is when challenge number two arose: The Floatation Tank didn’t fit through the doorway! How were we going to get it into the room?!

Lena’s excitement started to wane a little when the two couriers and Richard Meadows (the creator of Apollo Float Tanks) had to take the Float Tank into the bungalow out the back. Richard hung around to do some maintenance on our other Sensory Deprivation Tank, and had to call in a carpenter, because the doorway was not tall enough to fit the Float Tank through! Some structural adjustments were going to be made to get it in!

Day 2 – Saturday

Our carpenter arrived first thing in the morning to cut a hole in the top of the doorway, to enable the Isolation Tank to fit into the room. The plasterer was also working, patching up the shower wall. Thankfully the carpenter was still around to help Richard bring in our Apollo Float Tank #2! You can see in the image below the extent of structural change that needed to be made - before this was taken, there was literally a big hole above the door, with no supporting structures in place.

Lena was really excited that we were finally able to see our new Floatation Tank in the room, and that it was finally able to be set up by Richard. He spent the rest of the weekend setting it up, adding water and 350kg of Epsom Salts!

Over the next week, we had a few different helping hands to get Float Room 2 organised! We needed to put a new door on, and permanently adjust the height of the door frame for ease of getting the tank back out of the room, should we ever need to! Finding the right sized door proved to be yet another challenge, but one was found and fitted for the room.

Not quite tradies, but rather two very "handy and helpful assistants" who have been an important part of the setup process!

Today, we have had the shower beginning to be put in - hopefully the glass for the shower will be in over the next couple of days!

And, now you can have a little sneak peek at inside the new Floatation Tank! Soon you can book your Floatation Therapy session in our new Sensory Deprivation Float Tank!

The Apollo SC tank is brand new, and looks similar to our other ELV tank with a couple of changes inside. We will share more about it in our next blog!

We are excited to share the journey of setting up our new Floatation Room, which will soon be housing our second Floatation Tank!

Soon, we will be the ONLY center in Victoria to have two Floatation Tanks, so you will be able to book in for a float with a friend, partner, family member, or whoever you want to share the experience with!

We have had SO many requests over the past couple of years to make this happen - and we listened to you, and now it's all happening!

Enjoy the journey, more to follow in the coming days!

AFL - Carlton Football Club has started using Floatation Tanks

Since April 2013, Carlton Football Club has been using Floatation Therapy as part of their recovery and training.

Jason Patten, the Rehabilitation Coach for Carlton Football Club, says “Relaxation is very important for recovery. The quicker we get the players to relax, the quicker their bodies to return back to their base-line state, which is technically better for their recovery. It also does wonders to help with sleep."

According to the article on their website, it appears that the benefits of using the Floatation Tank for relaxation are already being felt and noticed, particularly when floating prior to a skills session where improvement in their skills are noticeable.

Carlton has an Apollo ELV Floatation Tank, the same as the one we have at our Floatation Center. Floatation Therapy is known to have numerous benefits to athletes, or anyone who trains or exercises on a regular basis. You can learn more about how Floatation Therapy can improve sport performance here.

I am often asked by people what does a floatation tank look like?
Sometimes that can be really challenging to explain.

Recently, Today Tonight aired footage on floatation therapy. Go to www.todaytonightadelaide.com.au, move your mouse to the 'All' tab and in the 'Search Tab' type in 'floatation therapy'. This video will show you everything you need to know.
