How To Make Your Float Experience OUTSTANDING
Now that you have had your first float, you may be left with some questions or concerns about your experience that you may feel was unusual or out of the ordinary. Each time you enter the tank it will bring you a unique experience, revealing new and exciting opportunities for exploration. No two floats are the same. It is for this reason that we have compiled the following table with everything we have ever been asked, or that you could have questions about, so you are 100% confident coming into your next float. Becoming familiar with these ideas is a great way to make your floating experience OUTSTANDING!
Problem✗ It’s too dark in the float tank
Solution✔ You can turn on the a light IN the float tank.
✔ You can keep the float tank hatch open to allow light into the tank. ✔ You can keep the room lights switched on for full brightness if that is what you prefer. |
✗ Music too high/low
✔ Use the volume controls in the float tank to set them to the volume you consider most enjoyable.
✗ I hear surrounding noise
✔ Make use of the FREE ear plugs supplied or purchase MACK’S soft silicone earplugs from reception which should reduce the noise to a bare minimum.
✔ Floating is about entering into your own meditative state which takes practice to exclude external sensations including ambient noise. Focusing on your breath helps re-direct your mind’s attention. |
✗ I am not able to relax
✔ Avoid caffeine and other stimulants before you float.
✔ You can request to have more soothing music to calm you down. ✔ Consider floating more often as often as weekly to reduce the time (and effort) it takes to relax. ✔ Use our mind clearing exercise before you come in for your next float session. ✔ Consider a longer float session to get into the mood more progressively and refine your relaxation method. |
✗ I only managed to relax in the last minutes
✔ You may need to book in for a two hour float session to make the most of the experience.
✗ I get cold
✔ Reduce movement within the float tank because your body creates a heat shield around your body and if you disturb it, you may feel cold temporarily. Settling down will warm you up.
✔ When showering prior to floating use lukewarm water and NOT hot water. ✔ Place both your hands on your stomach. ✔ Make sure the room fan is switched off after you get out of the shower. |
✗ I can see light when I am in the float tank
✔ Make sure the tank lid is closed tightly.
✔ Turn the room lights down or off. ✔ Turn the salt lamp off if you wish. |
✗ I am (or the water is) too hot
✔ Press the call button and we will turn the heater down.
✔ Open the float tank hatch. ✔ Switch on the shower fan. |
✗ I want to listen to music the whole time
✔ Let us know before stepping into the tank and we can play music for the entire duration of your session.
✗ I want to listen to my own music
✔ You can bring your own music.
✗ My neck hurts while in the tank
✔ Make sure you mimic the positions shown in the demonstration. Chances are you are not relaxing your head/neck because you fear it will fall or dip backwards – it won’t. The human skull is weighted perfectly to balance in water.
✔ We can provide you with a neck pillow to support your neck if you remain uncomfortable floating without one. |
✗ I was too stiff in the tub
✔ Relaxation is a learned skill – be patient and allow yourself time to get the hang of it. The therapeutic benefits will be profound when you eventually do “let go” and relax.
✗ I didn’t know I could move around in the tank
✔ Even though you can move freely within the tank, it is preferable that you remain still and motionless to achieve the full weightlessness benefits of floating.
✗ I can’t float very well
✔ There is no effort involved with floating. It just happens. There is no “right way” or “wrong way” to float.
✗ I got salt water in my eyes or mouth
✔ Use the water bottle provided to squirt and rinse your face and/or your mouth.
✔ You can wipe your face with the towel provided to remove any additional salt. ✔ You can wipe the top of the inside of the float tank roof before floating to prevent water dropping from condensation (if there is any build up). |
✗ I am claustrophobic (I don’t like confined spaces)
✔ You can leave the float tank hatch lid open.
✔ Don’t lie down straight away, get comfortable with the float tank surroundings. ✔ Leave the outside lights on and/or keep the float tank light on. |
✗ I don’t want to float alone
✔ We have two separate tanks so you can bring someone with you. Unfortunately, the tank only accommodates one person at a time.
✗ What if I want to get out or don’t like it?
✔ Use the call button so we can talk to you first before you get out as it is probably something simple that can be resolved easily.
✔ You can get out of the tank whenever you want. |
✗ I can’t get there during the week
✔ We are open 7 days a week, contact us to reserve your preferred time slot(s).
✗ What if I fall asleep?
✔ It's perfectly okay to fall asleep. We will knock on the hatch door to wake you up when your session is over. We will do it softly so you will not be alarmed.
✗ What if I have coloured hair
✔ Wait until it stops running in the shower.
✗ I don't like the smell of chlorine
✔ Essential oils are available for purchase if required after you finish floating.
✗ There are condensation /drops of water
✔ Use the hand towel provided and wipe down the inside of the roof of the float tank.
✗ I'm not sure when it’s the best time to use the float tank for me
✔ The best way is to experiment for yourself and try a different times and days. Each person is different.
✗ Not sure if I want to be nude or wear my bathing suit
✔ The choice is yours. It’s what makes you comfortable. No one will see you since the door will be closed and the float tank will be shut. You have total privacy within the room.
✗ Is the water clean?
✔ The filter pump is activated after every single client and we adhere to the strictest standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
✗ I just shaved, will it hurt to into salt water?
✔ Your skin will sting for only a few minutes, this is not usually painful.
✔ Next time you decide to float, postpone shaving until after your session. |
✗ I'm hungry before floating
✔ We recommend you have nothing to eat before you float but if you really hungry, have something small to eat. We have healthy snacks available for purchase.
✗ Is there enough air in the tank?
✔ The tank is designed not to be airtight and there are afew vents around the float tank for air circulation.
✔ You have the option to open the float tank hatch at anytime if you feel there isn't sufficient air flow. |
✗ My pubic area stings when floating
✔ Please exit the float tank immediately and consult your doctor.
✗ I wear contact lenses, should I float with them in or should I take them out?
✔ You should remove them before you enter the float tank, as you would if you were swimming in the ocean.
✗ I’ve got my (menstrual) period
✔ You must wear a tampon.
✗ I think I’m too tall (too big)
✔ The length of the tank is 2.28m and the width is 1.75m.
✗ I’ve just coloured my hair
✔ You will need to postpone your session until the colour is no longer running when showering.
