Floatation Therapy And The Mind And Body Connection

Stress
My name is Michelle, and I am the receptionist and one of the floatation therapy supervisors at inner outer health. I am completely sold on the benefits of floatation therapy to help manage stress and would like to share with you some of my experience.

As a student who studies full time and works, discovering floatation therapy has been a lifesaver! I have now had 5 floats over the past couple of months, and with each one, I am noticing a cumulative positive effect on my overall stress levels.

With exam stress and other general life stressors present continuously, I have experienced a huge change in my ability to cope with the daily demands of a busy schedule. I now have a greater sense of being in my centre, and so even when faced with a tornado of potential stressors around me, I am able to stay calm, focused and don’t get caught up in the whirlwind surrounding me.

I have found that one of the benefits of floatation therapy has been to clear away the physical effects of stress. Allowing my muscles to fully relax, as well as removing stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline, has meant that my body is much less tense, and my mind is clearer to focus on the tasks at hand. My attention span and ability to learn and remember new information has also been enhanced through this process.

A build-up of stress hormones in our body can have a detrimental effect on our physical and mental-emotional wellbeing. For example, increased production of cortisol leads to high blood pressure, increased levels of blood sugars, and inhibits the immune system. Stress also can affect the brain’s ability to work in an integrated and efficient manner, so when we are stressed, our memory and ability to learn can be inhibited.

Whilst clearing away stress hormones, another chemical release is happening that is highly beneficial – the release of endorphins. Endorphins are our “happy” chemicals and create an overall sense of wellbeing and peace. I find that this endorphin release really helps my mindset so that I feel like I can easily cope when faced with normally stressful situations – like exams!

So, if you are looking for an effective and natural way to manage your stress, why not try floatation therapy? If you are interested you can book online. I look forward to meeting you soon.

Floatation Therapy And The Mind And-Body Connection

Mind and Body Connection
“Every change in the physiological state is accompanied by an appropriate change in the mental emotional state, conscious or unconscious, and conversely, every change in the mental emotional state, conscious or unconscious, is accompanied by an appropriate change in the physiological state” – Elmer Green

I read this quote in Michael Hutchison’s book “The Book of Floating”. It is a great explanation of what happens to us inside the floatation tank. We are able to easily change our state of being to one of relaxation and peace – both physically and emotionally, simultaneously.

The connection between the mind and the body is well known. Each affects the other. It is now well proven that our physiology can create our psychology, and vice versa. So this means that if we are mentally stressed, that will translate into being stored somewhere in our body. Likewise, if we are physically stressed, this can also alter our ability to feel like we can cope emotionally.

Not only does the relaxing effects of floatation therapy ease physical stress and tension, it is also highly beneficial for our mind and emotional state. Stress is one of the major causes behind psychological disorders like anxiety and depression.

If we are able to keep on top of managing both our physical and mental-emotional stress, we are able to keep our health at optimum function. Floatation therapy is a fantastic way to support the whole person, bringing you a beautiful sense of calm, tranquility and relaxation to the mind and body.

Floatation Therapy Helps People With Fibromyalgia Patients With Pain Relief

PictureFibromyalgia Results
This new international research showed that floatation therapy has a significant effect on fibromyalgia patients and demonstrated that patients were able to manage pain better, relax, and perform tasks that they would normally not be able to. Overall, fibromyalgia patients reported 33% less stress and 33% less muscle tension as well as 30% more general relaxation after each float session. An average 2.5 days of pain relief was experienced, with the duration increasing with each float session.

I imagine that it must have been an amazing relief for the participants to find a safe and natural therapy that worked so well to manage their condition. As a result of this research, it is implied that the participants experienced immediate as well as cumulative benefits from floatation therapy.

I couldn’t resist sharing this wonderful news with the hope that perhaps if you, or someone you know suffers from fibromyalgia, the implications of this research are very promising.

For more information on this fantastic news for fibromyalgia patients, read what some of the participants had to say about their experience of how floatation therapy helped manage fibromyalgia symptoms.
